The Senior Scientist?s function is to provide guidance, project management, project direction and scientific insight. The job includes technical leading as well as management/coordination and direction of research associates and other scientific employees.
The Senior Scientist is expected to:
Responsible for project initiation, management, orchestration and supervision of projects in work group.
Designs experiments and directs the identification, collection, processing, analysis and cataloging of biological data, specimens and/or samples according to established protocol, procedures and standards, as appropriate to the specific objectives of the research study.
Plans and organizes day-to-day on-site research activities of research associates, and resolves procedural and logistical problems as appropriate to the timely completion of research objectives.
Interacts with collaborators and business partners worldwide.
Acts as lead contributor of scientific papers on research activities.
Monitors and maintains inventories of equipment and supplies for day-to-day study purposes as required, within budget parameters.
Monitors the work of others to ensure that appropriate procedures and standards for the collection and preservation of biological specimens and samples are adhered to.
Remains alert to potential new areas of research within prescribed study parameters, and makes recommendations to investigators on opportunities for new research directions, as appropriate.
Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art research techniques, technology, equipment and/or systems.
Participates in the hiring, management, performance review and training of other scientists and research associates.
Manages and facilitates production of biologicals under GMP controls and documentation.
