Seahorse is the industry leader in measuring cellular metabolism, and our award-winning XF technology is fueling the rapid growth within cellular bioenergetics research, and drug discovery markets. Our expanding Biology group is seeking an innovative and experienced scientist to join a cross-functional team dedicated to developing metabolic assays and kit products to achieve significant commercial outcomes.
Position Summary
As a Senior Scientist, you will apply scientific leadership to the assay and kit product development projects by identifying new opportunities for product research, fostering external collaborations, as well as presenting at scientific conferences. This interesting and dynamic position will offer a cross-functional, team-oriented working environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Apply scientific and technical leadership in driving new assay and kit product development in a cross-functional team
Effectively design and implement projects in support of new assay and product development
Develop, or contribute to, technical documents, product manuals, and protocols
Interface and collaborate with customers and thought leaders in assay and product development
Interface and collaborate with engineering to contribute to assay-specific software for the XF analyzer
Prepare manufacturing specifications and QC protocols and transfer them to Manufacturing
Attend and present at scientific conferences and trade shows to showcase products and generated research data; acquire new product and collaboration opportunities
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in biology or biochemistry, or a life science discipline PLUS 3-5 years? experience in a life sciences assay product development environment
Hands-on experience and a history of success in designing and developing a project resulting in a new cell-based assay product in a commercial setting
Excellent experimental skills and enjoys bench work
Extensive experience in cell culture and solid knowledge of chemistry
Understands the product development process and critical success factors (e.g. recognizing the critical needs of a project using risk management & contingency planning) and incorporates them into the project plan
Personal and scientific integrity
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience and knowledge in cellular metabolism and/or mitochondrial bioenergetics is strongly preferred
Experience in external collaboration is a plus
Other Requirements:
Ability to work at lab bench or laminar flow hood for extended period of time
Ability to wear protection gear (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, etc.)
