Trion Worlds San Diego is looking for a motivated Server Engineer with passionate drive to help us continue to build End of Nations?, our persistent online RTS. With groundbreaking new server platform capabilities, Trion delivers high-quality, fully dynamic, and massively social content across video game genres, gaming platforms, and mass-market entertainment formats.We are currently seeking a Senior Server Engineer to help develop and maintain our server-side code base. The ideal candidate works cooperatively across disciplines and has a solid background in server-side programming, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
A Senior Server Engineer is further responsible for driving the technological decisions required to position the game engine for successful continued development, mentoring fellow engineers, and being a vanguard of the studio?s culture. A senior candidate should also be prepared to engage in peer reviews.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement server infrastructure changes and support new gameplay features
Measure performance and make optimizations
Participate in technical design
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of relevant experience with at least two shipped products
Networking experience with TCP / IP and UDP protocols
Fluent in C / C++
MySQL, MySQL Cluster or Microsoft SQL experience
Experience diagnosing and fixing crashes, deadlocks, stack overflows, and heap corruption
Experience with multithreading
Experience with code optimization
Familiar with implementation of client / server architecture
Knowledge of network and server security issues
Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to implement simple solutions to complex problems
Ability to accurately and realistically schedule tasks
Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion with a high degree of quality
Passion for video games
PLUSES
Previous RTS experience
Java and web development experience
Solid math skills
Prior development work on client / server game systems
Previous experience working in a fast-paced, high-results-oriented environment
Windows or Linux Server experience
Experience with high-level scalable server architecture design such as distributed systems, cloud storage, etc.
