The Senior Software Engineer will take in the design and implementation of a global analytics platform for a leading International mobile games company. The job is primarily focused on designing and implementing big-data applications that provide insights to game and player behavior; in addition you will be expected to participate in discussions with other platform and game teams around the use of the analytics platform and other technology and implementation choices and strategies.Our systems combine open source batch processing systems (Hadoop, HBASE, Hive) with real-time event delivery and serving capabilities. This role represents an ideal opportunity for an experienced systems engineer to become an expert in processing systems and design solutions that bring the best of both systems to solve the business problems in a globally distributed mobile gaming environment. The ideal candidate is someone experienced enough to think architecturally but still desires to be deeply involved in the implementation of a complex system.
Responsibilities
Work with Product and Engineering Management to design and implement robust and performant solutions to meet customer needs
Share ownership of code and architecture with other members of technical staff
Build reliable, maintainable and scalable software on schedule
Participate in design sessions, technology selection and code reviews with other members of the team
Contribute to design of global gaming platform as needed
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining data mining, distributed computing, or web applications using Java, Scala, Clojure or Groovy
Proficient scripting language skills with shell, Python, Ruby, Perl or similar is preferred
Strong understanding of Hadoop MapReduce framework and HDFS is required
Knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem such as Oozie, Zookeeper, Pig, Hive and HBase is desired
Good understanding of distributed/cloud computing or Internet scale architecture is desired
Knowledge of complex systems architecture including compute, storage and networking subsystems is a must
Working knowledge of software development and deployment within the Linux environment is required
