Qualified candidates need to know Java and JavaScript, have a good understanding of one or more BI technologies, and be adamant about good user experience and elegant software design. We are based in the SOMA district in San Francisco.

Jaspersoft has been growing dramatically over the past year, and is currently looking to expand it's Client Software team with a Senior Software Engineer (Application Infrastructure).

Position

The Senior Software engineer is responsible for application infrastructure and frameworks utilized by Jasper BI product suite including new product development and enhancements through the entire software development lifecycle from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and delivery. A candidate needs to show leadership skills and be able to mentor junior engineers.

Essential Functions

• Effectively work with product management and user experience to understand market requirements and work out solutions
• Come up with estimates of efforts
• Maintain a development progress schedule and status, deliver projects on time
• Lead writing functional and technical design specifications
• Write, perform and maintain unit tests
• Implement solutions in J2EE, Web 2.0, and related technologies
• Provide assistance to QA and Tech Pubs to ensure product is properly tested and documented
• Contribute to the Open Source community

Job Requirements

• Experience building J2EE business applications including, but not limited to AJAX, extensive JavaScript, CSS, cross-browser solutions, Spring, Hibernate
• Experience with building and scaling up Web-based solutions
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require sponsorship for employment visa status
• Minimum job experience is 8 years in software development industry
  
  • 5+ years experience building J2EE enterprise business applications
  • 3+ years experience with Ajax, JSP, JavaScript, DHTML, and cross-browser development
  • 2+ years experience with Spring and Hibernate
  • 3+ years experience with Tomcat, JBoss or other app server

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills is essential
• Experience working for a software company is a must
• Strong design experience in Object Oriented programming
• Experience with Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) a strong plus
• Experience with Ajax a plus
• Experience with open source development a plus
• Experience working with offshore teams a plus
• BS or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience
