Senior Software Engineer - Applications Kiva Systems

For our fast growing engineering team, Kiva is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer
for re-designing our application platform that supports monitoring and reporting of our core system data.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in complex enterprise applications or products, possess
good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both independently and in team settings. Further,
this candidate would be familiar with fast growing companies and the associated deadlines and highenergy
culture that goes along with launching new products.
The Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for:
Contributing to the architecture, design and implementation of our new application platform
Evaluate and identify technology stack in support of application back-end architecture
Documenting low level design
Verifying the overall design for scalable, reliable, and maintainable solution
Participating in implementation, including code reviews
Supporting deployment
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
BS/MS in CS with 8 to 15 years experience, of which at least 4 years designing a complex system
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms. object-oriented design patterns
Experience developing high performance, scalable, and high available systems
Good experience with Java, XML, and MySQL
Experience working with service oriented architectures, core web technologies, web services
Experience with unit test frameworks like JUnit
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced environment previous startup experience a plus
A sense of humor and willingness to learn new things
Other nice to have qualifications include:
Experience with commercial Business Intelligence and/or OLAP solutions
Experience with RESTful web application
Experience using design tools such as UML
Experience with frameworks/tools like Spring, Hibernate
Knowledge of distributed cache.
