The Sr. Software Engineer will be working from our product development office in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this role you will be working with a team to design, develop and test solutions that meet the ongoing changes requested for our leading enterprise CX product line. The robust job will call for flexibility in requirements / specifications analysis and development utilizing your skills in database design, JAVA, J2EE, JBOSS, EJB, JPA, GWT and integration of other 3rd party products. Emphasis will be on application development and being on the forefront of re-designing associated modules to work using newer technologies.
Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills and Experience
?4+ years of experience in application development using Java based OO technologies, JPA, EclipseLink, OpenJPA, HIbernate
?3+ years of experience in RIA Web development using Java and / or Javascript. Experience with GWT, SmartGWT or SmartClient is strongly preferred.
?Experience with the design and development of enterprise applications;
?Versed in a systems development methodology;
?Well versed in SQL and relational database models;
?Database experience with Informix and MSSQL is a strong plus;
?Experience with the UNIX and Linux operating system (HPUX and/or AIX);
?Working knowledge of Perl and Web Services is a strong plus;
?Working knowledge of the following development tools and environments: Maven, Ant, Subversion, Eclipse IDE, Glassfish, JBOSS and the Apache HTTP Server is a strong plus;
?Experience working in a development environment that is supportive of client customizations;
?Experience in development of integrated modules and framework applications;
?Business knowledge of the Higher Education industry is a strong plus;
Soft Skills
?Four year degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent working experience;
?Proven ability and desire to both estimate tasks and meet deadlines, working effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment;
?Good analytical and problem solving skills;
?Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
?Motivated, hardworking and flexible;
?Quick learner who enjoys a challenge and can see the bigger picture;
Responsibilities
?Create the programming changes as defined by the architects to meet business needs ? UI development, business logic ? EJB and JPA persistence layer;
?Preserve a consistent and usable interface over the database and business logic provided in a multi-tier environment using model view controller standards;
?Provide programming of business logic in Java and Web 2.0 applications using SmartGWT, Junit testing or other testing and help in developing plans to complete projects assigned;
?Integrate other 3rd party software into the application interface as seamlessly as possible;
?Participate in team or corporate projects that are designed to improve the quality of Jenzabar products and services;
?May be asked to spend time on research and development of new programming tools, languages and platforms;
