Summary:
This position is for a Java developer/software engineer designing high-performance, scalable architectures, and writing applications in Java.
The software engineer will lead or assist in the design and coding of software product components, units and modules according to contract specifications. They could participate in the analysis and development of test plans and test assigned components and units. The software engineer, if testing, may be required to provide test results and recommendation for corrections to senior developers.
Qualification Requirements:
Education:
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related scientific or technical discipline.
Experience:
Eight or more years of experience in software development efforts
Or equivalent:
High School/GED and 9 years
Associate?s Degree and 7 years
Master?s Degree and 3 years
Doctorate Degree and 1 year
Experience:
Mid-to-Senior Level Web Developer/Software Engineer with 3-5 years experience working as a web developer/software engineer designing high-performance, scalable architectures, and writing applications in Java, C++, and PHP, and/or working on an equivalent open source project.
Skills:
Software Language Experience could include knowledge of:
Java 1.6, Hadoop (HDFS, Map/Reduce). Additional desired skills: Hadoop certification (Cloudera, ClearEdge), GOTS (database, Cloudbase, GhostMachine, NiagaraFiles) Web technologies (REST, Grails, Tomcat). Nice to have skills: Zookeeper, Pig, Hive. COTS (NoSQL database, MongoDB, Apache CouchDB). GOTS (Whizbang), COTS (JMS, Ruby)
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills
Able to work independently and in a team environment
Licensures, Certifications:
Certification might be required, depending on program requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to the following:
Client is moving to a cloud development and needs professionals to further the development and maintenance of the system. Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation. Manages software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams and accepted design tools. Participates as a design team member subject matter expert providing architectural oversight and leadership in planning and designing software system modeling, simulation and analysis for large, multiple product projects. Manage data storage via Cloudbase to provide scalable storage, flexible data modeling with atomic level tagging. Data Cloud experience, database knowledge, mapping data into the cloud, generalized data ingest, ontology, data cataloguing.Other duties as assigned
Skills
