General'QualificationsVeran! is! looking! for! talented! software engineers! with! experience! (5+ yrs BS,! 1=2! yrs! MS! or! PhD)!
developing image!guided medical!device!products!from!inception!based!on!a!clinical!need.!!Candidates!
must! have! a! portfolio! of! exceptional! contributions! developing! software! for! medical! imaging! and/or
image! based!navigation!applications,!and!a! desire! to!participate as!a! valued!individual! contributor!in!
the!industry.
Specific! experience! with linear! algebra,! computational! geometry,! 3D! image! processing!
(segmentation/rendering),! and! core! software! engineering! concepts! (object! oriented! design,!
communication! protocols,! multi=threading,! GUI! design/implementation! and! OpenGL) is! strongly!
desired.! Candidates! should be! well=rounded! engineers! with! an! intuitive! understanding! of! the!
application!development!process!from!concept!to!product.
Fundamentally,! candidates! must! be! problem! solvers! and! inventors! with! experience! solving! clinical!
problems.!!An!educational!background!in!Electrical!Engineering or Computer!Science, with!a!Masters!or!
Doctorate!is!preferred.

= Talent!for!human=computer!interaction!(HCI)!design,!esp.!in!a!medical!application
= Excellent!verbal!and!written!communications!skills,!FDA/ISO!design!control!a!plus
= Expert!knowledge!of!C++,!along!with!application!of!accepted!design!patterns
= Familiarity with medical!imaging!modalities (such!as!CT, MR, US) and!DICOM!data!format
= Experience!in!the!image!guided!procedure!domain!is!a!BIG!plus
= Familiarity!with!medical!imaging!open!source!toolkits!such!as!ITK!and!DCMTK
= Familiarity!with!general!open!source!tools!such!as!Boost!and!Sqlite
Job'Responsibilities
Develop! specific! software! application! technology! for! minimally! invasive,! image=guided! procedures.!!
Work! closely!with! physicians! to!identify! clinical! problems!and! solutions! to! those! problems.! ! Perform!
engineering!tasks!commonly!associated!with!software!engineering.!Communicate!clinical!opportunities,!
solutions,!and! technology! to physicians,! nurses,!along!with!Veran! sales!and! field! support.! Occasional!
travel!for support and!training!of!new software is!required
