Senior Software Engineer, Mobile StumbleUpon
StumbleUpon is seeking a self-directed Senior Software Engineer with a desire to build robust, scalable and exciting mobile applications. This developer will be working to design and implement new StumbleUpon features and improve the overall experience for millions of people. You will also be part of a team that works on diverse, site-spanning projects involving our mobile client platforms, community-facing tools, video, web services, security, user-to-user interaction and more. Projects will be for both internal tools and highly used public-facing products. We desire someone who is comfortable writing efficient database schemas, clean and efficient code, and has passionate opinions about user interface and interaction.StumbleUpon is the easiest way to discover new and interesting things from across the Web. Responsibilities:
? Build robust mobile applications for several platforms
? Design clients that interact efficiently with large scale web services
? Work in small development teams within large-scale operation environments
? Partner with Product Managers to define scope of future products
? Tune client performance through front-end and back-end optimizations
Qualifications:
? 5+ years software development experience
? 2+ years building native mobile clients
? Strong Object Oriented Programming skills
? Strong working experience with iOS and/or Android development
? Experience with other mobile platforms is a plus
? Java or Objective-C required
? PHP, HTML and JavaScript a big plus
? Linux/Unix experience is essential
? Experience with version control systems such as Subversion & Git
? Experience with C/C++ a bonus
? Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Strong collaborative skills and flexibility in fulfilling multiple roles
? Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related; or equivalent work experience
? Familiarity with (and excitement about!) StumbleUpon and the search/information retrieval space
