Senior Software Engineer Knewton

Develop innovative software with a quick moving agile team with multiple daily production deployments. Program a wide variety of systems. Participate in the development of requirements for those systems. Maintenance and systems work to ensure proper running of developed systems. Periodic (1 week/2 months) production support duty including: review and develop enhancements to the Knewton source code base on which Knewton?s platform will be developed; design and develop application programmer interfaces to facilitate Knewton?s growth by allowing outside business partners to quickly and efficiently connect to the Knewton platform. Collaborate with Product Management staff to develop, formalize, and adhere to project plans. Work in concert with Quality Assurance staff to insure product meets Knewton?s quality standards. Mentor junior team members.
Requires a Master?s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus five years of experience. Must have experience as a software engineer or developer and the ability to craft clean, efficient and maintainable code; Experience implementing and deploying into production services written in Java and Python with real world usage; Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and multi-tenant services; Knowledge of messaging systems in terms of architecture and performance in wide area networks; Knowledge of NoSQL solutions such as Cassandra and Distributed Hash Tables; Experience with cloud computing technologies such as AWS; Experience designing, implementing, and evaluating scalable fault-tolerant distributed systems; Knowledge of Operating Systems and Network principles such as Caching Algorithms, Memory Management, Asynchronous event processing, Gossip protocols; Experience leading and training a team of software engineers, performing code reviews and creating technical project plans; and experience working with agile development cycles and sprints.
