About the Job:
Twilio is growing and we are looking for someone to help build our orchestration and automation systems across multi-regions/country.
We are looking for a software engineer who is interested in building the next generation of platform systems to support global distribution and availability, you know the challenges in building scalable and resilient systems.
You will receive exposure to the unique set of challenges that come from scaling a global service that has to run at 100% availability.
Automation is key to almost everything we do at Twilio. We are looking for a leading "automation" mind - someone everyone wants to talk to about how we can do better.
Responsibilities:
Work within the Platform team and with the entire Product Development team to identify the best approaches to orchestration.
Identify and work to automated the platform layer of our system so that it can be consumed by the Product Development teams.
Twilio provides hosted carrier-class phone and messaging services and our customer have strict availability requirements that necessitate multi-availablity-zone and multi-region/country failover and resiliency. You will help develop and deploy solutions to support these requirements.
Take personal responsibility for the quality, reliability and availability of our platform systems. Finger-pointing is not in your repertoire, you believe and live DevOps.
Requirements:
You are proficient in Linux systems, you can develop system to solve complex problems and understand all layers of Linux.
You know what is involved in using technologies such as MemcacheD, MySQL, EHcache, etc.
You have a solid understanding of systems utilizing queueing services such as ZeroMQ (-MQ), ActiveMQ, etc.
You have a solid understanding of distributed system designs and principles, with technology such as Chef, Puppet, ZooKeeper, etc.
You know all the details of service internals from network layer to application layer, and always want to know more....
You have a solid software engineering background, write high-quality code with good unit test coverage, and know at least one modern language cold (python/ruby/scala/php/node.js).
You don?t just learn how things work, you learn why. Understanding how systems work at a fundamental level is a passion of yours.
You know agile software development processes and can thrive in agile environment.
You focus on continuous improvement and can describe the approaches you have taken.

Bonus Points:
Bachelors (preferably Masters) degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
