Netlogic Microsystems (NETL) is one of the most successful semiconductor companies in Silicon Valley, despite the recession. We recently announced our intention to merge with Broadcom (BCRM), a global leader in wired and wireless communications.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer to join the Multi-Core XLP Processor Design Group. The XLP was featured in an issue of The Microprocessor Report , where it was touted as ?an exceptional CPU well beyond the capabilities of other embedded processors.?

We?re looking for strong operating systems core kernel engineers to work at the forefront of technology, focusing on the development of performance and debugger tools for Netlogic?s flagship Multi-Processor SoCs.

This position will have high visibility in this small, focused and highly productive group.

Responsibilities:

Develop a set of tools infrastructure to debug and profile guest OS and user applications in a virtualized environment
Develop and extend performance tuning tools such as oprofile
Develop and extend debuggers such as remote/native GDB, KGDB and EJTAG based debuggers
Develop integrated performance/debug monitors such as Intel?s VTune for global view of system bottlenecks

Requirements:

BS/MS EE/CS with 5+ years of software development experience
Good working knowledge of MIPS, X86 or PowerPC architectures
Software development experience in C/C++ using Unix (such as Linux) operating systems
Experience in debugging and performance profiling infrastructure with kgdb, oprofile, VTune
Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as Xen, KVM is preferred
Experience in scripting languages such as Perl/Python and GUI development is desired
Prior experience with Multi-Processor software and SoC architectures highly desirable
