Job Description
In this role, the senior software engineer will be responsible for developing the installer for all of SSN products. Will work with development and operations team members to develop the new generation installer and automate the installation and upgrade process for all of QA, development, and operations environments.
Responsibilities:
The software engineer plays a critical role in the development lifecycle of Silver Spring Networks (SSN) product offerings. Responsibilities include:
Develop a common installer for all of SSN products.
Develop tools to help migrate existing installations.
Set up and maintain daily integration test bamboo pipelines.
Assist the build release team with their automation projects.
Required Skills
Experience programming in UNIX shell script and a scripting language such as Python.
Experience programming in Java
Experience working in Unix environments.
Proven success in developing and testing installation and configuration software for complex systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas, designs, and issues.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability and willingness to take ownership of projects, and help drive them to effective implementation.
Required Experience
BS or MS in computer science or equivalent is required.
3+ years experience in developing enterprise software.
3+ years writing automation scripts using shell scripts or Python.
2+ years hands-on development experience with Java
Knowledge of continuous integration using Bamboo is a plus.
Knowledge of SQL and ability to query database is a plus.
Knowledge of source control management systems like Perforce and Subversion is a plus.
Knowledge of test automation strategies, software release engineering and build management including source control, bug tracking and system level testing for product release to customer is a plus.
