Trustwave, a leader in cloud-based compliance and information security solutions, announces an opening for a Senior Software Engineer with extensive Ruby experience to join Trustwave's Product Engineering Team in Chicago.
Responsibilities
Design and develop network vulnerability scanner in Ruby
Develop concept vulnerability tests to use as prototypes for signature writers
Build rspec and/or unit tests for features delivered
Develop test harnesses to measure and track performance and accuracy
Document code
Craft design documents and technical specs to be shared on the team WIKI
Learn project domain, specifically focused on network protocols and security vulnerabilities
Actively participate in team oriented agile development process
Technical Requirements
Exceptional abstraction skills ? specifically related to Objected Oriented programming
Highly skilled in Ruby, beyond Ruby On Rails
Familiar with multithreaded programming in Ruby
Familiar with network programming in Ruby
Security background is valuable but not required
Familiarity with package distribution formats such as gem and rpm
General familiarity with Unix command line is valuable
General Requirements
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience or interest in the information security field is beneficial
Ability to play a role in a team, and help a team grow
Ability to participate in a highly interactive agile development process
Occasional overnight travel to other Trustwave offices in the U.S. may be required
