LOCATION: SANTA CLARA, CA OR VANCOUVER BC
A protocols engineer on the sustaining team is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of existing Infoblox products. This includes the development of hot fixes, patch and maintenance releases for Infoblox network appliances that provide network services such as DNS and DHCP. The successful candidate will be very technical, versatile, and willing to work on any area of the product.
Key Responsibilities:
As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team you will learn and maintain our existing code, do in-depth root cause analysis, design and implement solutions, and review the code of other engineers in the team. Duties include the analysis of software defects and performance issues in a Linux-based multi-threaded environment. Our appliances provide critical network services and this individual will be providing timely, high-quality solutions to complex problems. This job requires a detail-oriented, driven individual who can handle a significant work load, and thrive in a multi-tasking environment.
Skills & Requirements:
- 8+ years total experience software development in C/C++ programming in a linux or unix environment.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, socket programming is required.
- Performance measurement and analysis skills are required.
- A solid understanding of networking concepts is required.
- Experience with network services (e.g. DNS, DHCP) is preferred.
- Knowledge of relational databases, database theory, and object-oriented concepts is preferred.
- At least 2 years in a Sustaining Engineer role, with proven technical and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with Perl and/or Python is a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP, and authentication protocols is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education:
- BS degree in CS, CE or EE is required.
- MS is a plus
