Senior Software Enterprise Architect: SOA / Oracle Service Bus expertise
As a Software Architect reporting to the Director of Architecture at Vertafore, you will play a critical role in the definition and execution of our SOA & Portfolio integration strategy. You will be responsible for contributing to the definition and design of critical parts of our product architecture.
As a hands-on architect you will work with a team of highly motivated architects and software developers, taking ownership of key technical challenges in the development and evolution of our platforms. You?ll bring to the position a proven pragmatic approach to architecture and its evolution that retains a level of continuity with the existing products while significantly advancing the architecture in modularity, flexibility, scalability, performance, ease of maintenance and reliability.
You have deep implementation experience, and have proven yourself as an architect in an organization that delivers Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. You possess significant knowledge of the Oracle Technology Stack, SOA, EAI, SOA Management & Governance, ESB, BPM, multi-tenant and complex software architectures.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in the design and implementation of highly scalable architectures, be a solid java or .NET developer and comfortable in all tiers of the application stack, and be a passionate inspirational technical leader that others look up to. Additionally, you are capable of and enjoy mentoring junior members of the architecture and development teams. You would have worked on solutions that scale from 10?s of users to 10,000 that span multiple geographic regions.
This is a role that will have significant impact and requires someone with direct experience as a senior architect on a significant, visible, project of a successful enterprise SaaS offering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Working closely with Architecture, Product and Development management, you will:
Define, design and lead the implementation of our integration approach
Create and maintain clear architectural roadmap
Assess requirements trade-offs including practical trade-offs between technology and business decisions
Assess build, buy and open source tradeoffs for software technology and tools
Perform technical risk assessment and resolution
Perform prototyping to validate implementation approaches
Share architectural and technical guidance within the development teams of Vertafore Provide mentorship to developers and architects
Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies
Develop architectural / engineering standards
Develop project and resource plans
Basic Requirements
B.S. in Computer Science
7+ years technical expertise in architecting, designing, and implementing enterprise integration solutions
Experience building scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems
Experience defining system architectures and exploring technical feasibility
Experience with programming languages, tools and emerging open-source technologies
Preferred Requirements
M.S. in Computer Science or related field
Proven success in architecting and delivering large scale enterprise SOA solutions
Strong Architecture skills with an understanding and/or development experience in the following technologies:
XML
SOAP
UDDI
.NET and/or J2EE
Web Services
MSMQ, JMS, and other messaging systems
App server platforms
Oracle Technology Stack (Java, Oracle, OSB, WebLogic)
Storage Solutions (NAS, SAN, S3, MogileFS)
Content Management Systems (CMS)
Business Process Management (BPM)
Business Intelligence Tools and concepts
Experience with Security and Security related concepts
Experience developing applications in the insurance industry would be beneficial
Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
Strong implementation experience with the ability to be hands on to both prototype and roll-up sleeves and implement with the team when necessary
Self-starter and results focused individual with the ability to work independently and in teams
Driven to keep things moving, resourceful, proactive
Team player (responsible for commitments/schedules, resourceful, and respectful of peers and management) with excellent organizational skills
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
