Description
This is a unique opportunity for an individual with prior experience seeking new challenges and broad database responsibility. This Senior SQL Server DBA is responsible for Cvent's cutting-edge database technology and our entire portfolio of databases. While the focus of the position is on database administration, with duties ranging from disaster recovery, planning, and implementation to operational monitoring. This candidate will also perform development and programming functions as needed.
Position Duties:
- Monitor the performance of production databases. When bottlenecks are identified, work with Cvent's operations and development teams as necessary to resolve issues
- Manage the backup and recovery of production databases
- Manage and improve high availability and DR configurations as necessary
- Manage the deployment of new application code and fixes to both customer and internal databases
- Develop system capacity plans to ensure that Cvent maintains sufficient storage and computing resources to meet the current and future needs of the production environment
- Review database scripts from development to provide reasonable assurance that newly developed code won't adversely impact the production environment once deployed and that they follow established standards
- Perform SQL database upgrades and migrations
- Recommend and implement improvements to Cvent's standard procedures for database activities.
- The successful candidate will have 6 to 10+ years of relevant database experience
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL Server database administration, data modeling, T-SQL, and XML
- Prior experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 technologies in a transaction intensive, high-availability clustered environment is preferred
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision are a must

- This position is expected to work overtime and holidays as needed to perform scheduled maintenance and respond to system emergencies
