Position Overview
As a member of the Accounting team, The Senior Staff Accountant- Disbursements will report directly to the Controller and assist in the day-to-day activities and various responsibilities within the accounting department. The ideal candidate will have at three to five years' experience in a fast-paced growing company environment. The ability to meet deadlines and flexibility in handling changing priorities are essential in this position.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Core Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
--Manage Accounts Payable and the full-cycle Accounts Payable process
--Oversee check request process by ensuring that request adheres to company policy
--Manage the company's credit card program and monthly reconciliation process
--Oversee the processing of annual 1099s to independent contractors and report to IRS
--Responsible for reviewing and reconciling AP batches and ensuring accurate posting to the general ledger
--Utilize Great Plains software for processing of all AP related transactions and reporting
--Ensure proper procedures and processes are in place for maintaining, and updating vendor profiles in Great Plains
--Maintain vendor relationships
--Prepare monthly and year-end accounts payable closings, run required reports, reconcile accounts payable to general ledger, conduct detail analysis of accounts payable aging and days payable outstanding
Payroll:
--Process full cycle multi-state payroll on a semi-monthly basis including the processing of all pay changes, direct deposits, deduction changes, and job changes to meet required deadlines
--Review, verify, and distribute earnings statements and live checks, investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies
--Prepare recurring and ad hoc payroll reports for various departments as requested
--Process employee liens and garnishments as required by law
--Work closely with Human Resources to process employee status changes - new hires, terminations, and leaves
--Calculate and process special pay requirements including gross to net pays, partial pays, daily rate pays, and vacation pay out
--Processes all regular cycle and off-cycle payroll runs
--Review and verify hours imported from time keeping system for accuracy and completeness. Communicate with Human Resources and manager to resolve any noted gaps in employee timecards
--Problem solves any payroll issues prior to submitting final payroll file to ADP, including review of all payroll preview reports
--Provide audit support for annual workers compensation and 401k audits
--Maintain ongoing communication with ADP to report tax rate changes and state or federal notices and updates

--Dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
--Knowledge of Payroll processing, ADP payroll is a plus
--Thorough knowledge of Accounts Payable procedures and an understanding of 1099 reporting requirements
