Senior Storage Architect SANpulse
Basic Duties
This position will be asked to assist in preparation of proposals, reports, architecture, design, specifications, and project scope documentation. Additionally, desired candidate will be responsible for executing installation, configuration, testing, support and documentation for the SANlogics deliverables. Incumbent will be asked to provide feedback to improve reliability and availability of the SANlogics software. Mastery level knowledge of all major storage hardware platforms required. Hands-on experience with storage virtualization, content management, ILM and replication technologies required. Understanding of archiving, backup and data de-duplication technologies a plus. Strong technical knowledge of data center issues, including physical infrastructure, and multiple experiences participating in major data center upgrades and data migrations is desirable.
The SANpulse Senior Storage Architect is ultimately responsible for the design, development, implementation and technical management of SANpulse Projects. This position will lead and work closely with a team of engineers (typically crossing functional lines) to provide technical support for multiple SANpulse projects and activities. The individual will also act as a liaison to other departments on all technical matters related to SANlogics optimization.
Role and Responsibility
We are looking for someone who has been there and done that in all aspects of Open Systems SAN technologies. The ideal candidate will be able to facilitate projects from requirements gathering -> scoping -> obtaining buy-in from clients -> planning -> designing -> implementing the SANlogics solution -> developing production acceptance criteria -> as well as being the 3rd level production support for SANlogics 7x24.
The person chosen will ultimately be responsible for the following

Architecting / Engineering / Implementing & Maintaining a SANlogics environment running version 2.x.

Designing, Implementing and Supporting SAN and NAS optimization projects.

Developing, enhancing, implementing and keeping up-to date standards, best practices, procedures and policies for SANlogics hardware and software.

Working with directors, managers, and developers within the major technology business verticals for relationship building & expectation management.
Completion of project activities including, but not limited to, the following:

Collecting required source and target environmental data from vendors and customers.

Verifying compatibility and supportability of targeted hardware and software.

Site preparation for upcoming SAN or NAS optimization projects (foundation building).

Acquiring, installing, configuring and fine tuning the physical SANlogics application servers.

Installing and configuring the SANlogics application and embedded utilities.

Developing canned and custom reports and other required documentation.

Defining and developing SANlogics modules as required to meet project objectives.

Maintaining the operational health of the SANlogics infrastructure and the modules within it: monitoring log files, defining issues and the production environment for mission critical system issues.

Escalating hardware and software related issues that cannot be resolved in-house.

Providing comprehensive support for design and implementation issues and 3rd level support of all SAN Logic deployments.

Developing all project technical reports and summary presentations.
Experience, Knowledge and Abilities
8+ years experience with Open Systems operating systems, fiber channel and IP networks, storage arrays, replication and virtualization technologies, volume and file system management products and backup solutions. Certifications validating mastery of above technologies are preferred.
Strong networking and security related skills and familiarity with TCP/IP, NFS, Samba, DNS/BIND, NIS, LDAP, NTP, SSH are beneficial. High level of comfort with Networked Attached Storage is a plus.
Strong analytical, design, engineering, planning and problem solving skills are a necessity. Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle a plus.
Ability to design and document all implementation and configuration parameters with an emphasis on performance & high availability required. Must be an out-of-the-box thinker driven to lower customer costs using a blend of conventional and non-conventional solutions. Should have an understanding of current industry trends including backup-to-disk, continuous backup, archiving, de-duplication, virtualization, data encryption and automated migration.
Strong project delivery skills such as presentation, documentation, communication, writing and a hardworking attitude are a must. Strong interpersonal communication skills are required. Understanding of project management methodologies and processes is a big plus.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Bachelors degree preferred in a related discipline.
Financial, Manufacturing or Storage Consulting industry experience a strong plus.
