Senior System Administrator M5 Networks

The senior sysadmin will design, build and maintain M5's service delivery platform. He will provision Windows and Linux servers, set up and configure SAN storage arrays, configure firewalls, routers, load balancers, and VPN concentrators, and perform backups and replication of databases. The senior Sysadmin will also be involved with partner and service provider negotiations.


Responsibilities:



- Build and maintain Unix and Windows servers.
- Design and build a high-availability system infrastructure for an Internet-based software service.
- Manage and maintain an IP data network.
- Manage and maintain a SQL-server production database and mySQL monitoring databases.
- Perform general system maintenance:OS updates and upgrades, file system, user administration.
- Install and maintain email servers.
- Manage web servers and load balancers. Configure and administer SNMP traps and monitoring systems.
- configure and maintain firewalls and VPN concentrators.
- Perform enterprise and server backups.
- Install, configure and manage data storage arrays.
- Work with vendors to order servers, switches, and routers.
- Manage maintenance contracts with various vendors.
- 24/7 availability



Qualifications:





- 7years Windows and Unix system administration experience.
- Experience with Windows clusters.
- Experience with SQL-server database administration.
- Knowledge of Postgresql and mysql databases.
- Extensive knowledge of x86 architecture.
- Experience with Cacti, Nagios, and SNMP (or similar).
- Deep knowledge of Solaris and Linux.
- Extensive knowledge of the IP protocol suite and associated troubleshooting.
- Experience with Security, firewall, and intrusion detection.
- Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Windows domain controllers, DNS, and VPN.
- Knowledge of SNMP and a centralized monitoring system (d.g. What's up Gold, Cacti, MRTG).
- Programming skills (bash, php, python, perl, java), experience with svn/eclipse a plus.
- Voive platform (SIP, SCCP, RTP, TFTP) skills a plus.
- Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Apache knowledge a plus.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
