We have an opportunity for a Senior Systems Administrator at our corporate office in Apple Valley, MN. This individual will serve as a key contributor supporting both local and remote SAN, server and VMWare infrastructure. The position will be responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. They will also serve as a technical expert in the area of administration, redesign and configuration of complex operating systems. This position will report to the Director of IT.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administer the full life cycle of SAN and server infrastructure.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Microsoft Active Directory, VMWare and SAN environments by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Apply revisions to host system firmware and software.
Establish, maintain and manage user?s accounts and installs and modify and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems.
Investigate and analyze feasibility of system requirements and develop system specifications. Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
Develop new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Train technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed or acquired.
Establish guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and other components.
Develop procedures for disaster recovery, back-up contingency plans, and system security and protection.
Provide project management and leadership during planning and implementation of computer operations and enterprise systems administration initiatives.
Develop tools, procedures, and training sessions for staff.
Manage the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system.
Participate in the on call rotation as well as facilitate administration of client technology and work stations.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Information Technology or similar degree; an equivalent combination of other education and experience may be substituted for a degree
8+ years of server and SAN infrastructure administration experience, preferably in large data centers or distributed environments
3+ years of experience with administration automation and/or software development
VMWare Certification (e.g., VCP, VCAP, VCDX) required
Infrastructure architecture skills
Experience with HP server hardware, Brocade SAN Switches, and Dell - Compellent storage arrays
Experience defining, implementing, and testing disaster recovery solutions
