Axeda, the provider of the most advanced cloud-based service and software for managing connected products and implementing innovative M2M applications, is seeking a high energy Senior Systems Administrator to help manage our growing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment infrastructure. You will be part of the team that plans, builds, operates and scales the infrastructure that supports 24x7 operations of our customer?s mission critical M2M solutions. You will be involved in everything from hardware and VM deployments, automation, monitoring, and performance tuning, to working with our developers to resolve live issues.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, research, analyze, configure, troubleshoot and maintain Linux systems in a high-availability 24x7 SaaS environment
Troubleshoot OS, virtualization and application performance issues
Document all systems, applications and security configurations
Provide technical leadership to the team
Work on cross-functional teams to implement projects and large customer deliverables
Perform proactive testing of the disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Define, implement and execute ITIL best practices, e.g. Patch Management, Configuration Management and Capacity Management
Develop Tools/Scripts to help streamline the day to day processes
Evaluate/Recommend new technology to improve the environment
Participate in a rotating 24x7 on call schedule
Technical/Professional Knowledge/Skills:
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT field
Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines
Self-motivated; able to work independently; able to quickly learn new technologies
Strong diagnostic and trouble shooting skills
Experienced with and enthusiastic about technologies like:
RHEL/CentOS
Tomcat or JBoss
nagios
memcached
Scripting (shell required, python/ruby preferred)
Preferred Skills:
Exposure and familiarity with Cognos, LDAP and/or Oracle preferred
Exposure and familiarity with working in a VMware environment preferred
Familiarity with Fibre Channel Storage desired
Knowledge and familiarity with Configuration Management Software (Chef, Puppet, etc.) desired
Education & Experience:
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Requires a minimum five years of systems administration experience
5+ years of experience working with RHEL/CentOS Linux in a large scale 24x7 environment
3-5 years of experience with Tomcat or JBoss and Shell scripting (Python/ Ruby coding preferred)
Experience with enterprise software environments (SaaS and/or PaaS) is strongly preferred.
