Job Description
We're looking for an elite systems administrator with senior level skills to run our ever-expanding production cloud infrastructure, marketing web site, and web-based applications. We offer a growing, fast-paced, and challenging work environment, focused on cloud computing technologies.
Responsibilities
Implement and operate web content and application delivery systems based on advanced web technologies
Monitor and respond to production system availability, stability and performance issues
Implement security best practices, at systems, network, and application levels
Configure and tune system and network parameters for optimum performance
Develop tools to build, maintain, and monitor systems.
Ensure 24x7x365 operation, and rapidly scale systems to meet demand.
Contribute to systems architecture and design for customer-facing, and internal-facing, systems
Work closely with product development teams on automated build/CI/deployment tools and processes
Write comprehensive documentation, including server and network architecture and design documentation, runbooks, and operational processes
Assist with Windows, Mac, and network support for internal users
Assist with implementation and operation of corporate network, server, and IT infrastructure
Desired Skills & Experience
4+ years as a Unix/Linux administrator in a 24/7 Web-based operation
Strong shell scripting experience; Ruby experience a big plus; basic DB knowledge
Good Cisco networking experience
Best security practices
Disaster recovery and backups
Windows Active directory experience; Windows 2008, Windows 7
Wifi implementation experience
Basic CDN experience
Various protocols knowledge (DNS, NFS, CIFS, DHCP, TCP, HTTP(S), SSH, (S)FTP
Cloud experience
Amazon Web Services experience a big plus (S3, EC2, ELB, CloudFront, EBS, etc...)
Recent experience with RHEL/CentOS 5/6, including configuration, hardening, and tuning
Web/Application servers (Apache httpd and Tomcat), including advanced configuration, tuning, and operation
Solid grasp of Internet/Web systems including load balancers, network and host security, firewalls, network zones, virtual hosts and domains
Ability to write and fix simple HTML and JavaScript, and diagnose problems with Web content
Solid grasp of TCP/IP networking fundamentals. Understanding and application of TCP-based protocols and software, including SMTP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, NFS, LDAP
Outstanding troubleshooting ability
Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills
Preferred skills:
node.js, or other JS-based web framework
Expertise in monitoring systems such as Nagios, Cacti, Splunk, TripWire
Experience with RightScale, Chef, or Puppet
