Senior Systems Administrator - Windows Exa
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Exa Corporation is a global innovator and creator of the world?s most advanced fluids simulation software for Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) product engineering. Exa has a diverse and powerful computational environment with a private cloud including hundreds of high-end Linux-based servers, clusters and desktop workstations, and PCs running Windows in locations around the world. The IT team at Exa?s Burlington world headquarters is responsible for coordinating IT Operations for all global offices (Americas, Europe, Asia) including management of VPNs linking all sites. The IT team plays an active role in configuring and monitoring these systems.
In this new role, we are seeking a Senior Windows Systems Administrator to work on our team in this fast paced, commercial scientific and high performance computing (HPC) environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Senior Systems Administrator to establish Exa?s emerging global Microsoft Windows team. You will take exclusive responsibility to build, optimize, design and extend Exa?s AD forest (North America, Europe, Asia for 250+ users), showcase your talent, and develop additional cutting edge skills across a broad range of Microsoft technologies. You will own the full Windows infrastructure, supporting Exa?s engineering, scientific and sales users globally, and complementing the Linux IT team.
POSITION PROFILE:
As part of the IT Team, you will contribute to the planning, support, and administration of all of Exa Corporation's global computing, LAN/WAN networking, and communications services. Responsibilities include: account creation and security, creation of automation scripts to maintain uniformity of system configuration, maintenance of company information systems, SQL Server, DNS , system configuration, and file system maintenance and backup . In addition to Microsoft Windows, operating systems include Linux, UNIX (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX), and Mac OS X. The position involves close interaction with sophisticated technical users to support their changing requirements and to answer their application and operation questions. Security, particularly with regard to customer data, is a key element of this position.
? Systems Engineering - responsible for selection and maintenance of operating systems; high level understanding of OS and foundation architecture
? Systems Analysis - analysis/evaluation of existing and new applications and design, implementation and maintenance of systems

? Project Management ? plan and perform activities for IT projects on time and in budget; interact with stakeholders and departments globally to coordinate projects, resolve issues and achieve goals.

The successful candidate must be talented, enthusiastic and creative with good people skills and task management abilities. Effective interactions with physicists, validation engineers and software developers are required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
To be considered, you should minimally meet these knowledge, skills and abilities:
? BS/BA or applicable training or related experience
? 10 years experience as Windows System Administrator using Windows Server 2003/2008
? 5+ years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in Windows 2003/2008 Server System Administration
? At least 5 years experience in Windows Operating systems (XP thru Windows7) in both the client and server environment
? 5 years experience in administering Active Directory, file shares and security
? Design and implementation experience
? Administration of Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Active Directory
? Experience with installation, maintenance, and systems administration of Microsoft Server 2008 and 2003, Active Directory and LDAP
? Experience with LDAP

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge and experience with a variety of the following is desirable:
? Data Security Technologies (PGP, GnuPG, Drive Encryption, Sophos, etc.)
? Design and implementation experience
? Microsoft Certified IT Professional - Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008 or equivalent experience
? Strong knowledge of Windows OS (2003 2008 R2), Exchange (2007 2010) Server, MS SQL Server, Active Directory design, SharePoint and PowerShell v1.0/v2.0
? Extensive knowledge and experience maintaining and administering Active Directory 2003/2008
? Demonstrated experience administering Windows Server Update Service (SWUS)
? Experience in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows servers
? Experience/ability to design and implement Group Policy to secure and configure systems, automate tasks and package deployment within the Windows environment
? Demonstrated experience using Windows Deployment Services (WDS) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for OS deployment, patch management, software distribution and HW/SW inventory
? Demonstrated experience installing, upgrading and configuring applications within a Microsoft Server IIS environment
? Demonstrated experience administering Sophos antivirus products
? Demonstrated experience adapting to changing environment requirements and managing multiple task.
? Familiarity with SAN and NAS storage administration in a Windows Server environment
? Demonstrated experience maintaining entry and mid level HP servers
? Willingness and interest to interact in a Linux environment
Optional Skills :
These skills are considered a plus:
? Exposure to the LINUX operating system and basic commands
? Scripting experience is preferred (not required)
? Additional foreign language proficiency
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
? Develops and follows change management documentation including back out plans
? Collaborates and communicates with other IT groups to stay informed of changes and developments that may impact the production, QA, and development systems.
? Deploy standard repeatable build outs
? Work with vendors and drive them to help us meet our service level obligations
? Plan and implement low and medium risk changes on production systems
? Conduct trend analysis with a focus on proactive identification of events/issues that threaten performance and a consistent & timely resolution and documentation
? Analyze system performance indicators and recommend improvement actions

? Installing, configuring, patching, upgrading and maintaining Windows 2003/2008/XP/WIN7
? Maintain Windows 2008 DNS and DHCP
? Create, modify, and change MS domain user/computer accounts
? Ensure all systems are running antivirus clients with most recent AV signatures
? Perform configuration/life cycle management
? Repair/replace hardware and software as required
? Track software licensing
? Configure/administer network devices
? Correct/mitigate vulnerabilities as required
? Create/update documentation
? Provide user training
