Position Summary
The Sr. Systems Architect is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the company?s IT infrastructure. The Architect will perform discovery, analysis and provide alternative solutions to all infrastructure related needs while also providing support to the application development and QA teams. This position is responsible for definition and active management of the architecture with goals of improving IT efficiency and deliver services that are secure, reliable, cost-effective and flexible to support mission critical systems. The Architect aids the organization in thinking through and defining its IT strategy and resulting requirements, and translates those requirements into conceptual and logical architectures for the solution. The Sr. Systems Architect will report directly to the Vice President of Infrastructure Operations.
Essential Functions
Provide overall architecture, design, implementation and documentation of all systems.
Create and maintain documentation related to Datacenter architecture for servers, databases, and storage, backup/recovery and datacenter network solutions.
Partner with the Application Development, QA and Operations teams, DBA?s and project managers to ensure all appropriate deliverables are deployed.
Ensure overall completeness of the technology architecture in accordance with the enterprise business needs.
Implement change control best practices for all IT systems and sub-systems.
Ensure all defined system SLA?s for the business are met
Duties
Support the operations of the company?s data center, headquarters, and remote locations.
Augment and support the IT Operations and Infrastructure team ? onshore.
Analyze current IT processes and recommend changes.
Ensure systems performance meet SLA?s as well as perform capacity planning.
Education and Experience
6 years of IT experience in infrastructure & systems design, engineering and administration
In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, SMTP, HTTP, SSL and encryption technologies
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with the ability to make strong technical recommendations and decisions.
Demonstrate concise problem determination and critical thinking skills
Candidate must possess expertise and demonstrated experience in the following areas
Networks
Switches
Routers
Servers
Storage and Storage Protocols
Data Center Operations
Virtualization
RHEL OS
Scripting
Directory Management
Information Protection/Security
Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and supporting methodologies, including Agile & Waterfall.
Ability to work collaboratively and constructively in a growing company to achieve results.
Proven ability to effectively manage time and tasks.
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
