We?re seeking an experienced Systems and Data Architect to lead all data services requirements for several new products that promise to revolutionize the intersection of sports broadcasting and consumer experience.
This is a ground floor opportunity to join the core technology leadership team in a high energy, well-funded company with laser-like clarity of the opportunity and super high ambition to execute. The Sr. Architect will play a key technical leadership role in defining the direction as well as implementing the major transformational data-related projects at Sportvision. He/She will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing infrastructure to provide highly complex, reliable, and scalable databases to meet the organization's objectives and requirements. He/She will be familiar with a variety of the database technologies, concepts, methodologies, practices, and procedures and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Sr. Systems and Data Architect will assist delivery teams in defining physical database standards regarding storage management, security, performance tuning, monitoring, and deployments. This position is not an operations position. The position will review all solutions and technical design specs ensuring they meet the standards that she/he collaboratively defined. This involves being intimately involved with all technical activities within the team (software development life cycle activities, code reviews, research, etc.). It will likely also involve mentoring and guiding a small group of engineers. We?ll rely on you to be an active participate in vision setting, researching, training, and all phases of the software development life cycle. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering.

As the primary Architect you will be working on either business or architecture initiatives and you may expect to spend a significant amount of time on development activities, which include the following:
Create a data architecture ready for rapid scale out across multiple tiers as needed
Schema design for all RDBMS and NoSQL requirements across all production systems
Technical leadership over all other data related systems (e.g. caching, search, analytics, CMS, etc.) and all data feed ingest and publishing
Provide technical leadership for and help to build a world-class team of data engineers
Work alongside the engineering team?s software and client architects to co-develop a strategy for success
Knowledge of best practices and research capabilities in tool evaluation, documenting patterns and standards, defining technology strategy, technology evaluation and recommendation, providing guidance to engineers through hands-on assistance as well as formal and informal training and some technical development.
Must be able to provide high level direction, formulate a plan to achieve the goals and execute the plan to get things done.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
10-15 years of experience in software and data architecture
Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent experience (Course of Study/Major: CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or similar)
Experience as an Architect or working on a software architecture team, providing technical leadership/guidance (direction setting and articulating, consensus building, conflict mediation, diplomacy, etc.).
Previous experience in developing multi-tiered data systems as part of a large scale web architecture
Experience with MySQL or SQL Server, content management systems, content delivery networks
Good leadership, communication, and presentation skills
Experience and love for developing enterprise class products, technologies and platforms is strongly desired
Experience building and supporting mission critical applications, running in a highly distributed manner.
Experience planning and breaking down a task into sub-tasks and estimating effort to perform the work.
Familiarity with various requirements gathering techniques.
Familiarity with configuration management concepts and tools.
Familiarity with software usability concepts.
Software prototyping experience.
Ability to work on multiple tasks and initiatives concurrently.
Demonstrated self-starter, with the ability to work well in ambiguity.
Ability to facilitate meetings with customers and technical staff.
Strong verbal and written communication along with solid presentation skills.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, BUT NOT REQUIRED
Master?s Degree or Equivalent Experience (Course of Study/Major: CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or similar)
Extensive, real-world experience designing enterprise software and defining Architectures (UML, J2EE design patterns, SOA, EAI, BPI).
Experience in multiple software development lifecycle phases, including scope and proposal, analysis, design, and software construction.
Experience with NoSQL solutions (i.e. MongoDB or similar)
Hands-on experience developing web applications with/without frameworks (JSP, servlets, Struts, JSF).
Object-oriented software development/architecture experience in either C++, Java/J2EE or .Net.
Type of Credentials/Licenses: Java or Microsoft certification or equivalent ?real-world? experience.
Exposure to application security technologies and approaches (Active Directory/ADAM, LDAP, SiteMinder).
Experience with Software Configuration Management tools and processes.
Experience with application servers (Apache, IIS, etc.).
