Description:This person is expected to develop and maintain the operational systems for all our enterprise web applications and the environments on which they are hosted. This includes recommending and developing the environment and their architecture for these systems.
Job Duties include:
Management of all hosted enterprise web applications
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of these applications
Working with the other system and database administrators in the hosting group and with their customers in maintaining and developing the hosted infrastructure
Recommend and develop innovative solutions to effectively scale all infrastructures to handle an expected increase of our customer base currently estimated to up to 2,000,000 users
Researching, evaluating, installing, configuring new tools and processes to facilitate all aspects of hosting
Application technical installation, configuration, support, upgrades as necessary
Application and Web Server installation, configuration and support
Recovery of the hosted applications in the event of a hardware or software failure
Troubleshooting and correcting application problems where appropriate
Ensure monitoring and reporting on all hosted servers (may include memory, disk space, log file analysis, cleanup, etc)
Maintaining system security policy, including firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, user accounts, etc.
Recommend and implement hardware and software solutions to support application delivery, backup/recovery, disaster recovery,business continuity, and storage/SAN architecture
Required qualifications:
Redhat Linux Certified Engineer
5 years Unix system administration and J2EE application experience
3 years experience with various hardware solutions including HP enterprise servers
3 years experience with EMC SAN, NAS, etc.
3 years experience with firewalls, load balancers, etc.
Experience with Linux, Solaris shell scripting
Performance analysis and tuning
Exposure to data import, export, SQL scripting
Exposure to Oracle 9i/10gAS a plus
Strong problem solving skills
Works effectively with a minimum of direction
Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Willingness and ability to handle firecall duties
Must be eligible to work in the US without employer sponsorship and be eligible/qualify to obtain US government clearance
