Our company is seeking a talented, driven and experienced Systems Engineer to join our IT team in Redmond, Washington. The successful candidate?s primary responsibility is to design, implement, and support the enterprise infrastructure. The environment includes LAN, WAN, VPN, VMWare, Server, and Desktop hardware and software. Interaction with internal customers and vendors through email, phone and in-person plays a significant role in this position. This position will report directly to the Director of Information Technology.
Core Deliverables and Responsibilities:
Designs, implements and supports the enterprise infrastructure. Typically requires five to ten years of experience in administering and engineering IT systems.
Leads projects to improve business processes through technology tools. Meets with other business groups to understand and capture requirements. Proposes solutions to solve business problems and to improve business processes.
Ensures the health of computing systems and infrastructure by performing the following actions:
Monitors: Defines system health metrics to monitor and sets up alerts when defined thresholds are exceeded.
Maintains: Performs preventative maintenance and patching as required of all systems. Manages systems to be in supportable configurations (e.g. versions, warranties, patch-levels, support contracts), and plans appropriate upgrades as needed.
Troubleshoots, and resolves: In the event of an issue, performs the necessary analysis and troubleshooting to address and resolve the issue.
Documents: Creates documentation describing configurations, architecture, management processes, etc.
Manages VMWare environment and ensures that all pieces of the infrastructure meet the needs of our fast-paced business.
Has demonstrated track record of engineering solutions and implementing them successfully.
Works under light supervision with latitude for independent judgment.
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science and industry certification is preferred.
Position Qualifications:
5 -10 years of working experience in the implementation, administration, and troubleshooting of VMware (must have this skill to be considered), Microsoft operating systems, Linux operating systems, enterprise networking, firewalls, and backup/disaster recovery solutions.
The position requires a patient, responsible, focused, detail orientated, and self-motivated person with excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Must be comfortable supporting various end user skill levels.
Education / Training / Certification:
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science and/ or equivalent work experience is required.
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCSE), RedHat Certified Technician (RHCT), and VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) certifications are desirable.
