Job Description
Designing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting information systems in a geographically distributed 24x7 global customer operations environment.
Job Responsibilities
Tier 3 support of VMware, EMC, Cisco UCS, Dell, Mail, DNS
Tier 3 on-call rotation for nights; weekend support is a must
Procedural documentation for hand-off to Tier1 and Tier 2 support
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as common sense: knowing what you don't know and when to ask
A good attitude is essential. Must work well without direct supervision and as part of a team
Required Experience
5+ years experience with UNIX / Linux administration in 1 or more major flavors - required
3+ years experience with VMWare solutions and administration - required
Knowledge of Backup and Recovery operations using Netbackup/Zmanda/VMware VDR- nice to have but not required
Practical skills required for the installation, configuration, and management of VMware ESX.
In-depth knowledge of VMware vCenter, HA, DRS, etc.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking.
Good understanding of SAN/NAS storage technologies.
Must be adept at identifying and eliminating performance bottlenecks and making performance-related recommendations (hardware, software, configuration).
Familiarity with data replication technologies, server migration and disaster recovery strategies (EMC RecoverPoint, NAS Replication).
Strong scripting skills (Perl, Shell, VMware API).
Working knowledge of the guest operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc.
Familiarity with security issues and best practices in virtual environments.
Desired
VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
In-depth Linux/Unix as well as programming experience.
Knowledge in Splunk, Puppet, BMC Bladelogic
