Senior Tax Analyst - VAT/Excise FuelQuest

Principal Responsibilities:
Lead EU Excise Duty and EU Value Added Tax (VAT) research and analysis efforts in support of continuous expansion and improvement of Zytax Determination with primary focus on petroleum and other energy commodities.
Review Determination EU Excise/VAT rate/rule issues and identify and document corrective actions for defect resolution
Identify rate/rule updates and enhancements in response to customer feedback, tax law/policy changes and tax rate changes
Develop, document, and execute plan for monthly maintenance of tax rates, rules and other tax content
Lead QA test efforts for Determination application/content releases in order to verify tax determination accuracy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in EU Excise Duty and EU VAT determination/calculation, including intracommunity, import, and export complexities.
Demonstrated expertise in EU Excise/VAT legal research and analysis
Experience with implementation, design/development, testing, or administration of tax determination/calculation software applications
Experience with CCH or similar tax research software tools
Excellent documentation skills - ability to explain complex tax requirements and scenarios from a functional and technical perspective; ability to assist design of tax determination software features
Ability to develop, document, and execute plan for maintenance of tax rates, rules and other tax content
Ability to serve as lead analyst for complex tax research efforts related to global taxation of petroleum and other energy commodities
Ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts to other staff members across all teams and to external clients
Ability to interface well with teams across the organization, including Professional Services, Development, Sales, and Marketing
Ability to take initiative and own a problem or concept and drive to a solution
Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
USA/Canada federal/state motor fuel excise tax and sales/use tax experience a plus
Knowledge of database management systems (SQL Server, Oracle) a plus
Expertise in Microsoft Access a plus
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years experience in multistate sales/use tax research, analysis, or solution design
Experience with Sabrix, Vertex, or similar sales/use tax determination/calculation systems
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, computer science or related field preferred
Expertise in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio
