Job Description:We are looking for a Tax Compliance Manager to join our fast-paced, dynamic company. This is a great opportunity for a candidate to work in an innovative environment and grow within our business. The Tax Compliance Manager is primarily responsible for managing and preparation of transaction tax returns.
Job Duties:
Provide sales/use tax return preparation
Review processes for Avalara clients, internal sales/use tax technical support to company personnel including sales/marketing, IT, quality control, business development, customer service and senior management.
Demonstrate product functions and features to internal and external customers either in person or remotely.
Assist in identifying areas of improvement and efficiencies in all compliance processes and drafting requirements.
Performs QA related to sales and use tax content.
Maintain/update new and existing customer information.
Perform and manage all tasks assigned.
Proactively participate in a dynamic and innovative tax environment.
Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, or Finance.
Strong understanding of general accounting best practices and ability to clearly convey these best practices to an audience of various knowledge levels.
Experience with Big Four Accounting Firms
Experience with sales and use tax vendor software, i.e. Vertex, Taxware, Avatax
Self driven and motivated
Prior experience as a team leader
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Efficient, accurate and deadline driven
Understanding of basic math such as percentages and general accounting rules
Utilizes professional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates excellence in efficiency and accuracy
Ability to prioritize and multi-task under constant time constraints
Ability to work independently and significantly contribute to the team
Ability to multi-task, troubleshoot, and problem solve in a quick, calm, analytical and methodical manner
Ability to learn/use different software applications and tools
Experience preparing sales tax returns
Strong customer service skills and mindset
Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously; be flexible with new assignments; meet deadlines; redirect priorities in a high volume environment.
