Senior Test Engineer SolarBridge Technologies
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED SolarBridge Technologies, Inc. has developed an innovative photovoltaic microinverter and monitoring solution that dramatically improves reliability, increases energy production, and simplifies installation for solar systems. We are seeking a candidate for the position of Senior Test Engineer.
The Sr. Test Engineer will report to the Director of Production Engineering and Quality in Austin, Texas. The Sr. Test Engineer will be responsible for leading SolarBridge?s microinverter test development effort from development through production. The mission of the test development team is to design test processes, including hardware and software, to perform qualification, design verification and production testing. The products to be tested are primarily DC to AC power inverters with PLC communications interface and sophisticated controls. The power supplies incorporate SolarBridge?s many innovations including the elimination of electrolytic capacitors and a high degree of digital control. Duties include developing a test process that can accommodate multiple test stages (Hi-Pot, Functional, HASS, ?etc) and product maturity (qualification, prototypes, production, RMAs ?etc) across geographic zones (China, Indonesia, and USA) that provides comprehensive test coverage and data analysis (SPC) capabilities. The ability to lead and influence decisions with internal and external (CMs) stakeholders resulting in low-cost, high quality (6 sigma) and flexible test process is critical. The goal is to develop industry leading test processes which meet the most demanding specifications of tier-one customers. The test engineering team is also responsible for the timely management of test documentation in the company?s product life cycle management tool. This is a very fast paced environment with multiple test projects happening in parallel. The Sr. Test Engineer needs to drive a high degree of reuse, but utilizing a disciplined path for implementation of continuous innovation. As a key member of the test team, the Sr. Test Engineer must provide strong people management and influence peers without specific authority.
The Sr. Test Engineer will work to quickly identify key near-term initiatives and opportunities and gain a clear perspective of the long term product test challenges and issues confronting SolarBridge. He/she will quickly develop and manage key relationships within the company and create an environment of effective teamwork across functional and location boundaries.
Additional responsibilities of the Sr. Test Engineer are as follows:
Implement a transparent, team focused approach to test management that includes all stakeholders in the company.
Work closely with the Dir of Production Engineering and Quality to quickly make the test team ?world class? through innovative solutions and mentoring of existing talent.
Build a culture of technical excellence and predictable execution.
Work with operations management to develop a systematic process for cost of test optimization.
Maintain a high level of engagement with engineering and operations across multiple geographic zones.
The ideal candidate will have a four (4) year degree in EE with a minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience in power supply testing in a design and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be a bright, accomplished engineer that has the intellect, high energy and drive to fit in with an extremely bright and motivated test team operating in a highly competitive environment. This person has a high level of ambition, drive and self-motivation. This person will be results oriented, process driven and relationship focused. He/she will be well organized, willing and eager to put process and structure in place so that the organization and test engineering results can be quickly scaled. Equally important, the successful candidate must have unquestionable ethics and integrity. SolarBridge requires a person who possesses intuition and self-confidence to adapt to changing situations.
The SolarBridge organization is multi-national, so very good written and spoken English is required with Mandarin Chinese a plus.
The key criteria that the Sr. Test Engineer should possess are:
First hand experience coordinating and leading a test engineering organization which develops multiple test projects in parallel
Have an in-depth understanding and experience with sophisticated, high performance AC/DC ATE equipment.
In-depth understanding of the phased process of test process development typical in mature development organizations.
Experience driving cross-functional teamwork to deliver test solutions that exceed expectations
LabVIEW experience level equivalent to Expert or Advanced, especially in ATE test applications in production and lab environments
Indexed database and associated tols experience (Pearl, SQL, postgress and other scripts)
An undergraduate EE degree is required. An MSEE is desired.
Open to occasional domestic and international travel (China and Indonesia).
