Position Summary

The Senior UI Software engineer is responsible for supervising the product UI code unity and integrity (including the markup, style sheets and JavaScript), implementing new UI features and enhancements, reviewing UI changes done by other developers and working closely to them to maintain consistency, efficiency, and excellent performance.

Essential Functions

• Work closely with user experience engineers to collect production UI requirements and create solutions
• Estimates projects' levels of effort
• Maintain development progress schedule and status documents; deliver projects on time e
• Make recommendations that address known or possible UI issues
• Implement solutions in Web 2.0 and related technologies
• Follow and propagate standard-compliant validating approaches to markup development
• Work closely with the Development team on UI changes required by all projects
• Provide assistance to QA and Tech Pubs to ensure product is properly QA'd and documented
• Contribute to Jaspersoft's Open Source community

Job Requirements

• Experience building complex UI for business applications including, but not limited to AJAX, extensive JavaScript, and CSS. Experience building cross-browser solutions
• Experience building and scaling Web-based solutions
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship for employment visa status
• Minimum job experience is 8 years in software development industry:
  
  • 5+ years experience building Web based enterprise business applications
  • 3+ years experience with Ajax, JavaScript, DHTML, and cross-browser development
  • 2+ years experience with CSS development
  • 2+ years experience with JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, Prototype, YUI, etc.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication skills are essential
• Experience with 508, WCAG, and/or WAI-ARIA standards and concepts is highly desired
• Experience with Java and JSPs is a strong plus
• Experience with enterprise reporting, analytics/OLAP, or business intelligence is a strong plus
• Experience with open source development is a plus
• Art skills and ability to create page or element designs is a strong plus
