Senior User Experience Designer PatientsLikeMe
Job Description
PatientsLikeMe builds data-oriented online patient communities that help patients get information and support, while also helping health researchers learn from patients. We're looking for a senior UX designer to help make sure our user experience lives up to our patient-centered values. Want to help us change the world? Read on.
Who are we looking for?
?We need you to be an expert in:
- Multiple research methods, especially ethnography-style interviewing. You know that what users ask for and what they actually want are not necessarily the same thing. You know how to plan a research sample, coordinate recruiting, and get the most of in-person and remote participants. Better yet, you know how to involve other team members for maximum learning.
- Design evaluation methods. You?re committed to ongoing user feedback. You know when to use usability testing, analytics, and other approaches to provide the most value. If you?re not expert in these tools, you can at least find and oversee people who are.
- Interaction and information design principles. Although you need not be a visual designer, we need you to be visually literate. If you?re not already an expert in accessibility, you know how to become one.
- Sketches and storyboards to express ideas and engage with users as well as colleagues. You?re as comfortable with innovative conceptual design as you are with fine-tuning forms and microcopy.
- Taming complexity. Healthcare data can be complicated to gather and display, but you know how to make the patient experience feel like a simple, supportive community.
- Personas and scenarios, as well as other techniques that will help generate good solutions and drive commitment on the team. You know how these tools can work with an agile approach.
- Leading and collaborating on a diverse team. This isn?t a management role, but your 5+ years of experience doing all of the above will help us define how design happens alongside our agile development team. You can work with incredible developers, community managers, marketers and other designers to generate, review, and prioritize great solutions.
Experience with social media ?and healthcare are desirable, but not required.
