SENIOR USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER Belkin Corporation
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED
What you?ll do
As Senior User Experience Designer you will create interaction designs for new and existing products, including hardware interaction, software interaction, setup and out-of-box, and shepherd these designs from research through competitive evaluation, design, usability testing, and implementation.
How you?ll do it
Research ? You can find ways to learn what you need to create an excellent experience for a variety of users in a variety of contexts.
Evaluation ? You can expertly evaluate an existing or competitive product, insightfully bringing opportunities and pitfalls to light.
Iterative design and testing ? You're eager to try your early work on real people and use the feedback to make a better prototype on your way to an awesome final design.
Finishing ? If your design doesn?t make it to the retailer, no one will be able to enjoy it. So you deliver accomplishable, intelligible, and complete documentation (perhaps not always on paper!) of the intended design while meeting the shared goals of the product team, then monitor implementation to ensure that the product comes out as it should.
Collaboration ? You involve team members and real users in accomplishing your work, enticing others to participate in the above activities and ensuring that no one on the project team forgets about the people who will buy and love the product.
What you?ll need
Insatiable curiosity regarding people and their capabilities and needs.
Strong conceptualization skills with deep attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to convey the intricacies of a desired experience to business and technical audiences.
Great aptitude designing and specifying product behavior, including on-screen, in-browser, packaged software, mobile app, and hardware-based interfaces.
Skill in prototyping for conceptual development, testing, demonstration and documentation.
The ability to organize and lead small and medium projects and to help others contribute to large ones.
Excellent design communication abilities including wireframes, workflows, experience challenges and opportunities, presentations, and specification of dynamic information displays, animation, sound, and haptic feedback.
What you?ve done
A master?s degree in Interaction Design or similar field, or at least a Bachelor?s degree in a relevant field (Psychology, Human Factors, Anthropology, HCI, etc.)
At least seven years? hands-on experience designing great user experiences in online, software, mobile, and/or hardware products.
You don?t have to be a graphic designer, but a certain amount of visual design survival skills are definitely needed. You don?t have to be an engineer, but the ability to make an HTML mock-up of a software interface or a rough physical mockup of a product is a definite plus.
What you?re getting into
We?ve got big collaborative spaces for your big ideas, so bring an open mind and leave your suit in the closet. We all are committed to creating unique and rewarding consumer experiences. Everyone is interested in succeeding ? for the team, for themselves and for the business. Cross-functionally and across the company, everyone has common goals and aspires to be their best.
You will learn something new or at least look at things differently every day. There are so many smart and creative people around that you?ll be motivated to pursue the ideal.
Team spirit is infectious. Belkin is an extremely open workplace, where communication is essential. Not every idea will be accepted, but you?ll be asked for your point of view. Innovation thrives on multiple and varied levels. At Belkin we challenge conventional wisdom and refuse to accept that something cannot be done.
