Position
AtHoc is growing rapidly and expanding into new market sectors both domestic and international. Our product team is tasked with leading this expansion process by delivering new capabilities and offerings serving these new markets as well as deepening our offering for the existing customer base. The Senior User Experience Designer, working closely with a cross-functional team to assess product requirements, will translate requirements into concepts and elegant user design, interaction models, user task flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use and optimize the user experience.
Responsibilities
Leading the effort in improving the user experience of AtHoc's desktop and web applications
Using your strong attention to detail, exceptional organization, logic, and analytical skills
Multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks and being comfortable with tight deadlines
Working with Product Management, product Architects and UI developers to design and specify new AtHoc product features and to ensure that the final product is intuitive and easy to use
Communicating effectively throughout all phases of the lifecycle with product management, software development, technical documentation and QA
Designing mock-ups, and writing, owning and reinforcing AtHoc's User Interface specifications
Leading usability studies and user interviews
Challenging traditional design thinking and look for new and innovative ways to approach design projects, improving and streamlining the user experience
Supporting marketing activities by researching and tracking effectiveness of existing flows
Defining and tracking key success metrics for the user interface
Requirements
5+ years of experience designing Enterprise level software user interfaces, at least 2 of those years as a senior interaction designer with direct experience in web and rich client application design
Strong backgrounds in UI/HCI, interactive design, and advanced visualizations
Meticulous attention to detail and a tenacious desire to solve difficult problems and deliver results
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present your designs to stakeholders and respond to criticism with confidence and flexibility
Outstanding functional knowledge and skills in the areas of information architecture, interaction design, usability engineering, visual design and prototype engineering
Led or championed the creation of a multi-year UX vision for multiple products or product lines, driving product requirements from a user-centered perspective, and proposing new usability improvements based on research results and heuristic evaluations
A solid understanding of how to evangelize and use research to drive design decisions
Proficiency with a range of interaction design, visualization, and rapid design prototyping tools
A demonstrated ability to ask appropriate questions, communicate effectively and persuasively convey design solutions to a broad range of stakeholders including product managers, engineers, and customers
Solid experience with analyzing requirements rapidly, conducting heuristic reviews, and employing highly usable UI paradigms
Education
Bachelors degree required. Masters degree desirable.
