Senior Vice President, Global Center of Operational Excellence Zipcar

Overview:
In this newly created role, reporting to the President and COO, the Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence will have responsibility for establishing and managing a Global Center of Operational Excellence (COE) to extend Zipcar?s target operating model in and across all markets. Zipcar is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for this global team.
The COE will design processes that increase efficiency and accelerate growth. The SVP will be the champion and role model for continuous improvement across all markets and functions. S/he will work closely with local market resources within a matrix environment to drive best practices across our global footprint. Zipcar will leverage the COE to gain access to best practices and innovations to serve local markets and support their ability to scale. Functional expertise within the COE will include operations and service quality, locations management and merchandising, member services, project management and a centralized reporting and analytical support.
Successful candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of progressive management experience and have a successful track record of delivering operational excellence in a consumer service business.
Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities
Design the future state COE and develop roadmap to bring to fruition
Drive the development of improvement initiatives across the entire operations organization
Deliver operational excellence across functions and markets
Implement practical and sustainable business process improvements
Continuously measure and monitor key processes, risks and controls including external benchmarks to assess effectiveness
Develop and motivate an engaged, high-performing team to effectively operate a cutting-edge global COE

Qualifications:
Demonstrated success in leading operational excellence and business process re-engineering. Ability to produce enduring, effective solutions to business problems through benchmarking, project management, analytical problem-solving.
Demonstrated exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills with a successful track record working in highly matrixed environments.
Excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task and be adaptable. Able to synthesize large amount of information and deliver results despite shifting environment.
Proven results associated with Change Management efforts at the program and project level
5+ years of experience designing and implementing business processes with scheduling and budgeting (P/L experience preferred)
Minimum 10 years related analytical, business or operational experience in global environment - strong statistical and financial skills essential for success
Advanced degree (e.g. MBA), strongly preferred
Six Sigma Certification required (black belt preferred); Lean & Project Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred
Must be able to support 30% of travel, including international
