Healthline is searching for a Visual Interaction Designer with proven strong graphic and illustrative design skills, who can think broadly while executing with pixel-level eye for detail. Create next generation visual designs for all aspects of the award-winning Healthline.com. This is a great opportunity to work on products that impact the health and care millions of people.
Working closely with designers, product managers, marketing and informatics, the visual designer will work on a variety of projects such as interface design, application icons, prototyping, site development/management and potentially print collateral. The Visual Interaction Designer will join a team and work in the Healthline San Francisco office at Third and Townsend, near the ball park and one block from Cal Train.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary product teams to produce eye-catching and reassuring page designs, icons, storyboards, scenarios, and interactive prototypes
Participate in concept development, design ideation, and detailed specification of visual designs for future Search interfaces
Successfully communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of user centered design process
Communicate trade-offs and address stakeholder expectations in a proactive and collaborative manner
Create visual designs that address business, brand, market, and user requirements, including design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, and interface elements. Collaborate with producers, interaction designers, and engineers to refine the user experience and release the final product on schedule
Ensure design consistency across all Healthline.com UI areas
Requirements/Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Information Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts. All Candidates Must have online portfolio available for review
Strong design skills including web page layouts, information design, and typography, and must have an awesome eye for detail. Able to develop new approaches to complex design problems and can convey ideas into tangible form
Candidates must able to communicate and collaborate effectively in a dynamic cross-functional team, and be able to rationalize and present their design ideas and decisions effectively. Must be able to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
Must be fluent in PhotoShop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. Proficient in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Possess good knowledge of web standards, cross-browser compatibility issues and page optimization
Must have solid grasp of graphic and web design and information design principles and good understanding of current web technologies (html, dhtml, css) and ability to create designs optimal for efficient downloading
Experience in usability teams, with knowledge of UI design principles, interaction design guidelines, user-centered design
Experience with healthcare information websites a plus
