Position Summary
GT Nexus, Inc., a growing SaaS provider, is actively looking for a Senior VMware Administrator to join our expanding infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be results driven, goal-oriented, a leader and will possess a strong capability to handle interruptions while multi-tasking in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will have the ability and the opportunity to rapidly learn new skills and technologies in a high growth setting and complex enterprise environment. Preference will be given to candidates with Windows 2003/2008, clustering, disaster recovery, Vmware v4.0 v4.1 v5, FC switching experience and hands-on experience managing large production environments.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Collaborate with a strong team to manage and support the company?s growing server park
Optimize and scale virtual environment for the best performance
Physical and virtual server capacity planning
Monitor and maintain disaster recovery technologies
Standardize server provisioning and decommissioning
Evaluate and implement new hardware and technologies
Maintain physical server infrastructure
Interface with our Engineering and QA teams to help manage our pre-production environments
Join our on-call team rotation to assist in providing the highest level of availability for our customers
Job Requirements
5 years of hands-on experience administering a production environment (with an uptime target 99.99% or greater)
5 years of progressive work experience supporting 24/7 on-demand applications
At least 6 years of experience in a complex Windows and VMware Server environment
The following technology and application experience: - Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 servers - TCP/IP - Vmware ESXi v4.0, v4.1 v5 - VCops - VMware SRM - Vcloud Director - EMC Clariion, VMAX - Cisco MDS - HP SIM, OA, ICE - Solarwinds - Splunk
Experience with standard System Administration tasks including server builds, security updates, software installs and system troubleshooting
Experience in deploying HP Blades and Dell servers
Experience with server capacity planning and scalability
Excellent communication skills
Experience with enterprise storage systems
Ability to document systems and system changes
Proactive rather than reactive mindset
Strong troubleshooting skills
Experience with ITIL and ITSM
Attention to detail and a focus on doing things the right way, every time
A strong commitment to following and improving processes and procedures
A dedication to producing to useful and detailed documentation
Self-motivated and able to manage self-imposed deadlines / responsibilities
Security focused with a production mindset
Strong team player who excels in a collaborative environment
Demonstrated skills in planning and successfully executing complex IT projects
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
