Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Participate in the definition and design of web-based search and analysis applications powered by Basis Technology?s innovative text analytics platform
Work directly with product stakeholders and as a member of the development team in storyboarding and prototyping new applications and interactive interfaces for exploring ?Big Data?-sets
Lead the coding and testing effort of the web application framework, targeting several specific solution scenarios
Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams on technical architecture and implementation
Actively participate in a Scrum team that focuses on delivering incremental results and constant improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in relevant subject area (e.g., computer science)
3-5 years experience with
programming in Java and OOP
CSS/HTML/Javascript/AJAX and other presentation layer technologies
RESTful and SOAP Web Services
n-tier web applications
Practical experience
in applying MVC or other web application Design Patterns in code
with UI/UX design and a passion for creating intuitive interfaces
Competence with development tools such as Eclipse, Maven, Subversion, Jira and xUnit frameworks
Understanding of Python or other similar scripting languages
Familiarity with interactive information visualization is desirable
Knowledge of distributed computing technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Amazon Web Services) is a plus
Ability to work within a UNIX-flavored (Linux, Mac) development environment
Exposure to common development methods of the open source community
Capability and willingness to absorb new information quickly and switch gears easily
Excitement for elegant design and high quality implementations
