UI engineers at Bunchball are mainly responsible for exploring, prototyping and building interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The work involves a healthy mix of design and engineering:
Coding: Translate from Photoshop mock-up to production-ready solutions using best practices, cutting edge techniques, and the best tools.
Design: Ensure users have a delightful experience with all aspects of the Nitro product family. User experience and user interfaces are key.
Product: Build new features for existing users, drive initiatives to attract new users, and generally improve user experience.
Performance: Page speed, browser-support and high availability are among our top concerns.
Tools: Promote best practices in front-end work and build/maintain a library of elements for other engineers to build new features.
Experience building one or more large-scale websites
Proficiency in web development technologies - HTML, Javascript, jQuery, CSS
Very comfortable coding in one or more scripting languages (PHP, Python)
An eye for design and overall aesthetics and user experience are a big plus
Knowledge of industry standard graphics software (Adobe Photoshop & Fireworks)
Desire to constantly improve existing systems and methodologies
Demonstrated ability to understand and master new technologies quickly
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and a desire to teach and learn
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly moving startup environment
Self-motivated, proactive, curious, responsible and flexible
A degree in computer science or similar is a plus, but not required
