Position Summary
This individual will deploy, maintain, monitor and support Windows infrastructure-related activities of the organization. The Windows System Administrator must have experience building and configuring systems (hardware, software, file systems), work closely with other departments to identify, recommend, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions in a project oriented environment. Manage a shared ticket queue of daily system requests.
The candidate must have experience working with Data Center hardware, be standards driven, and have analytical and organizational skills. Strong customer service, team, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are also required.
The candidate should be able to troubleshoot, analyze, upgrade and configure hardware as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Focus on Windows Systems Administration of Microsoft Windows 2003, 2008. Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft 2003/2008 servers and other Microsoft products.
Provide remote assistance and support to IT staff in the different regions and end-users when necessary
Provide support for server backup & monitoring
Provide support for File/Print/Anti-virus servers
Participate in patch management and security administration for Windows servers
In-depth analysis and problem resolution for complex operating environments involving Microsoft, VMware, EMC, and Citrix
Determine the impact of requirements on the existing architecture, systems, and work processes. Work with affected areas to ensure the proper review/communication of requirements and integration
Determine infrastructure system specifications for hardware/software compatibility, in close collaboration with other IT teams and Information Security
Produce daily and weekly reports of activities and operational status
Participate in audits, as needed, producing necessary documentation, reports and explanations. Assist with the definition and implementation of corrective measures aimed at correcting possible findings
Administration of monitoring system for the Windows environment
Cross-training with Infrastructure staff
Strong technical knowledge of current network principals, protocols and standards.
Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning, performance monitoring and development.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Highly self-motivated, directed with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Exceptional customer service orientation.
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Good understanding of MS Windows architecture and system level resources.
Experienced with hardware and peripheral installation, maintenance.
Experience in automation and scripting strongly preferred.
Knowledge of IP networks and principals.
Experience working in large datacenter environments.
On-call availability.
Required Qualifications:
BS or BA degree, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education, training or work experience
5+ years of Windows, VM and Citrix Administration experience
In-depth knowledge of Windows OS internals, registries, permissions
Familiarity with performance analysis using performance monitoring
Familiarity with Virtualization technologies, specifically VMWare v4 and v5
