Responsibilities

Maintain thousands of servers and networking equipment with your raw skills and an arsenal of wildly powerful and sophisticated automation scripts. If you can do it, you can automate it. This is high-scale production site support, not office IT.


Specific responsibilities include:

-Write and maintain hundreds of PowerShell scripts for server provisioning and maintenance
-Triage, troubleshoot, and solve production issues caused by failures in hardware, configuration, networking, vendor outages, and (lots of) software changes
-Migrate the environment to meet ever increasing scaling challenges - virtualization, integrated physical and cloud servers, new data stores (e.g. Hadoop), and multiple data centers
-Support multiple test sites that each replicate our production environment
-Continuously improve our data backup and disaster recovery systems

Join an elite team managing the infrastructure for the #1 kid's site. Our application space includes database scalability, caching, message queuing/bus, wide-table search, recommendations, user ratings, services for mobile devices, gaming cloud management, and virtualization.


Requirements

-Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with 4+ years work experience
-Approach complex problems with courage, tenacity, and a passion to simplify
-Embrace iterative development to manage risk and competing "must have" priorities
-Demonstrated ability to solve emerging problems quickly and flexibly


Skills

-Senior windows server administration experience
-Expertise automating repetitive tasks with windows scripting (WMI, ADSI, PowerShell)
-Windows performance tuning, trending, and analysis
-Network protocols, hardware & software network security, name services, load balancing
-Server architectures, hardware, RAID
-World class system debugger


Pluses

-Familiarity with F5 or ADX load balancers
-Experience with running Windows server in virtual or cloud environments
-Experienced in HA computing and networking (clustering, hot failovers, -)
-Prior NOC experience
