At Zipcar, we are all about our members. The Search Specialist will be part of the team responsible for the development, implementation and management of Zipcar?s member acquisition strategies. This person will focus specifically on Zipcar?s SEO and SEM strategy development, implementation, tracking and performance.
He/She will serve as an expert in search engine optimization and search engine marketing through insights and analysis, and should have strong proven experience working on dynamic and complex SEO and SEM campaigns. The right person will have a strong passion for delivering quality search traffic to Zipcar sites in support of the markets where Zipcar operates.
The ideal Zipster for this role will be a self-driven, go-getter who is creative, curious and analytical. We?re looking for a very sharp and self-motivated achiever who combines a deep interest in business and passion for data-driven decision-making; with demonstrated strong analytical capabilities and meticulous attention to detail. This position will contribute at a very high-level but must also be comfortable rolling up his/her sleeves and being in the weeds.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Analyze, optimize, and grow search engine marketing (SEM) campaigns, while following monthly/quarterly budget guidelines.
Drive new ideas and processes to improve performance of SEM campaigns, including account structure, bidding, ad copy and keyword development.
Perform detailed analysis to make quantifiable optimization decisions.
Devise targeting logic, regularly testing various changes to incentives, creative, offers, messaging, etc. across various website, mobile and campaign components.
Work with marketing leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive SEO strategy and roadmap; Monitor all SEO projects and deliverables (local through international / multi-language; across devices, etc.).
Monitor ongoing SEO audits / assessments and implement SEO best practices.
Work with engineering resources to ensure technical SEO best practices are properly implemented on newly developed code.
Collaborate with content marketing teams to drive SEO in content creation and content programming.
Monitor website architecture, content, linking, internal linking architecture, page construction, meta-data content and other factors to improve SEO positions for target keywords. Obsessively monitor and report on performance; Provide reporting updates ensuring all recommendations and resulting actions are identified; ensure consistency of measurement (troubleshoot when necessary).
Understanding of marketing approaches to customer acquisition
Experience with one of the following (campaign / bid management, keyword research, optimization and analytics tools (Google Analytics, Optimizely, Marin, etc.))
Knowledge of technical aspects of SEO, including HTML, URL structures, keyword analysis, content optimization, search engine crawlers, indexes and algorithms, other factors that can impact SEO.
Experience working with various test methodologies is a PLUS.
Experience working in an analytic driven environment.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast changing environment with a strong attention to detail, communicate effectively and work well in a cross functional environment
Ability to identify, prioritize and efficiently manage time to focus on critical tasks
Advanced proficiency with standard business software (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Requirements & Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in a data-driven digital marketing environment; membership acquisition marketing experience is a PLUS (1-2 years dedicated to SEM /SEO)
Bachelor's degree required
Must pass Zipcar?s Pre-Employment Background Check and Drug Screen
