Server Interconnect Architect
Calxeda is bringing revolutionary computational efficiency to the data center, leveraging the ultra-low-power ARM architecture as the foundation for next generation server designs. Calxeda's platform will consume as little as 1/10th of the power of today's best-in-class servers, enabling data centers to realize significant reduction in capital expenses, power, space and cooling. The Calxeda platform is specifically designed for servers, scaling efficiently to thousands of processor nodes, with unique network and storage acceleration, and is further enhanced with management technology to deliver true "energy-proportional" computing.

Responsibilities:
-Work with a team of hardware and software engineers to define the high-level road map and architecture for a next generation inter-node unified server interconnect
-Drive server interconnect thought leadership and specifications, contribute to micro-architecture definition, architectural modeling, and validation
-Interface with external vendors, partners, and customers, as well as other internal teams including hardware and software engineering, product marketing, and systems engineering
Education & Qualifications:
-Masters or PhD degree in CS or EE and 5+ years' experience in server-focused networking
-Experience in architecture and design of networking chips
-Solid understanding of L2 Ethernet switching including VLAN, Broadcast/Multicast, and LACP
-Knowledge of industry trends and road maps around unified server interconnects and fabrics
-Knowledge of emerging Data Center Ethernet standards including DCB and TRILL
-Knowledge of storage fabrics over Ethernet including iSCSI and FCoE.
-Knowledge of the interaction between server virtualization and networking
-Knowledge of leadership approaches to data, control, and management plane architectures
-Knowledge and sensitivity to large scale data center network operations issues and requirements
-Self-motivated and driven to continuously improve personal and professional skills combined with openness to constructive feedback
-Strong communication and documentation skills
-Working knowledge of PCIe
