Job Summary:
The Server Software Engineer will participate on the Product Engineering team and help to produce upcoming versions of the core Centri products. You will use technical knowledge and skills, especially those pertaining to Linux based server side software, to help build an industry leading solution for optimizing mobile networks. This role will own some of the server side components of our products. You will contribute to projects involving compression, caching, encryption, scaling, policy management and TCP/sockets among others. This role requires an individual who is willing to work with many different technologies and is comfortable 'switching gears' often.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
--Perform server side software development related tasks involving a wide variety of mobile software and mobile network related projects.
--Participate in team design and troubleshooting discussions related to the current projects
--Manage project tasks from start to finish and provide regular updates of project status and escalation to management as appropriate.
--Produce documentation to support portions of projects worked on
Education, Experience & Qualities:
--Must have a B.S./B.A. in Computer Science, MIS, EE or equivalent
--Comfortable in a fast-paced small start-up environment
--Experience in telecommunications/wireless industry required
--Experience with standard software development methodologies
--Minimum 8 years in a professional position, within a technology company developing server side software, preferably related to mobile networks
--Team Player
--Self-motivated and driven by success
--Ability to work with other departments and all levels of the company
--Ability to mentor more junior software engineers
--Ability to work with outside engineers at either partner companies or customers
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
-- Able to work in fast paced, self-directed environment developing while delivering project and product-based tasks and documentation
-- Self-motivator who can work independently and effectively in an unstructured environment, while contributing to a positive team environment
-- Experience with some source control required, SVN preferred
-- Experience in object oriented design required
-- Experience with XML, JSON and C required
-- Experience with Java or C++ required
-- Experience with Node.js strongly preferred
-- Experience with Python, PHP, Ruby or Perl required
-- Well versed in the latest trends in enterprise application development
-- Experience in SQL and at least one RDBMS required
-- Knowledge of mobile networks and typical mobile network infrastructure required
-- Knowledge of networks, sockets and distributed systems programming required
-- In depth knowledge of TCP and HTTP protocols required
-- In depth knowledge of the inner workings of Linux required
-- Experience working with large scale deployments a plus
-- Experience developing on Windows and at least one of the prominent smart phone platforms (Android, iOS, RIM, Windows Mobile) a plus
-- Some experience with compression and/or cryptography preferred
