SUPERVISOR: VP of Operations
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Manage service organization for EKOS Corporation. Optimize service operations, documentation,
material flow, electronic tracking, and facilities layout to support routine maintenance, upgrade, and
repair of durable products. Support development of world-wide service operations, including
creation of warranty programs and generation of service contracts.
Supervise production for EKOS durables product line(s), including board and control unit testing
and troubleshooting and repair of production fallout. Manage OEM supplier relationships.
Support Engineering with Design For Manufacturability (DFM) expertise, and design input for next
generation durable products.
MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
? Schedule service activities in response to returned durable products and manufacturing inprocess fallout. Supervise service activities, including maintenance, upgrades and repairs, as
needed.
? Manage OEM suppliers to meet EKOS sales forecasts for durable products.
? Schedule and supervise durables production, including board level testing, control unit test
operations, and troubleshooting and repair of production fallout.
? Develop and implement continuous improvements to service processes including improved
procedures, streamlined paperwork and efficiencies in material flow. Support development of
world-wide service operations.
? Plan facilities layouts, furniture, and equipment to optimize throughput, quality and cost.
Work with production to adapt area for increasing service and decreasing production.
? Benchmark and work with Senior Management to optimize warranty program(s) and develop
Service and Maintenance contracts, including service contracts with International Distributors.
? Generate and review service documentation, as necessary, i.e., Travelers, Document Change
Orders, Deviations, Non-Conformance Reports, etc.
? Establish/ maintain and optimize reporting mechanisms for service metrics including
throughput and costs. Where appropriate, optimize use of QAD to improve electronic tracking
of service operations and better utilize Service and Support Module to track costs (i.e., labor).
? Plan and coordinate routine maintenance and calibration of Service and Production equipment
and maintain records.
? Supervise Service Technicians. Includes ?hands-on? training, coordination of professional
development training, medical device manufacturing/ service requirements, and facilitation of
IPC Certification, as needed.
? Interface with Quality Assurance, Material, Customer Service and Engineering to
communicate Service priorities, and manage support resources.

? Utilize service and repair metrics to suggest, evaluate, and prioritize continuous improvement
projects to optimize product quality, and minimize cost. Participate in the development of next
generation products and processes, providing input from a manufacturing and service
perspective, i.e., DFM and design review.
? Support R&D projects with resources, as necessary. Plan/prepare pilot production activities
and support transfer from development to manufacturing at OEM.
QUALIFICATIONS
? Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or equivalent.
? Five years of successful experience in Service Operations or Customer Service; medical device
and electronics/ durables manufacturing experience preferred.
? Prior warranty or service contract development experience in service or customer service
capacity strongly preferred.
? Expertise in GMP, ISO 13485 and MDD requirements, as applicable to this position.
? Successful experience working in a team environment and developing products with a multidisciplinary team.
? Supervisory experience.
? Technical writing competency.
? Ability to travel up to 25%.
? Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
AUTHORITY
? Creation of DCOs and Service review of DCOs and DHRs.
? Make hiring and termination decisions and write performance appraisals for service and
production staff.
