Site Operations System Administrator - Database
Jawbone is looking for a System Administrator to join our SiteOps team. The position will report directly to the VP of SiteOps. SiteOps manages and maintains our web sites and public facing servers. This is not a traditional DBA role. It is primarily a Sysadmin role, but this position will be focusing on some complex database problems so a love of databases is required.
Responsibilities:
Maintain and support MySQL and Mongo databases
Profile and tune database systems to increase efficiency
Collaborate with development team to improve data standards
Architect and build a data warehouse combining data from many disparate systems
Assist with general system administration and automation tasks
Participate in oncall rotation
Requirements:
At least three years experience with Linux system administration
At least two years experience with MySQL administration
B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Desired Skills and Experience:
Basic Scripting Ability (bash, perl, python)
MySQL replication troubleshooting
State of the art MySQL knowledge (Percona vs MariaDB, etc.)
Database sharding experience
Hadoop experience is a plus
Puppet system automation
Nagios and Munin monitoring experience
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud administration
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work on multiple overlapping projects
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
