Job Description
Silver Spring Networks is seeking a Program Manager with experience in managing complex and technical projects. The program manager will support Silver Spring?s international expansion, focusing on delivery of smart grid networking solutions to our customers in Asia, South America, and Europe.
This role will serve as the voice of the international teams in Redwood City?s corporate offices to ensure their success. This will involve coordinating requirements, development, and delivery of solutions for international teams. The Smart Grid Services (SGS) Program Manager will work closely Product Management and Engineering on product requirements and delivery timelines, SGS Project Managers and Manufacturing on hardware orders and logistics, Finance for accounting and forecasting, and SGS technical staff to coordinate deployment, configuration, and maintenance activities. In most cases, the SGS Program Manager will support remote teams, while in others, this role will lead the front line project management and deployment of projects (initially small proof of concepts, and increasing with size based on performance and technical and customer experience).
A willingness to work in a fast paced environment, strong project management and interpersonal skills, and an ability to quickly pick up technical details of Silver Spring Technology will be keys to success in this role. Successful candidates will have experience in customer facing as well as technical roles. Working knowledge of infrastructure systems, the utility and renewable industry, and/or wireless and telecom systems is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the delivery of new products for international customers. Work closely with the SGS Project Manager, Product Managers, and Manufacturing teams to coordinate product development, compliance, manufacturing, and logistics for international delivery. Work with Engineering and Product Management to finalize release schedule details and escalate to the Product PMO or SGS Management as needed.
Support the transition of international customers into existing Business as Usual processes within Silver Spring. This will involve coordinating with Customer Support, Manufacturing, Hosting Operations, and Warranty teams to define near and long term support and operational processes for international deployments.
Manage the cost accounting and delivery forecasts for international customers. Support SGS Customer Project Managers based outside of headquarters to complete cost and revenue forecasts.
Manage multiple, competing, cross-functional projects simultaneously. Work across time zones, functions, and customers. Leverage management to alleviate bottlenecks in project coordination and delivery.
Travel 25-50% time, depending on phase of delivery and number of international pilot deployments underway.
Run project meetings efficiently, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles.
Provide status updates in weekly project meetings to international and California based staff. Provide communications updates/issues management as needed.
Required Experience
Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline (Engineering, Computer Science, etc.). Equivalent experience may be considered.
2+ years of Operations experience, preferably for coordination of new product development, international logistics/supply chain, or experience with telecommunications network (wireless or wired) and/or large enterprise hardware/software deployments.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels. Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced, high growth corporate environment.
Must possess above average written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects.
Demonstrated skills in requirements gathering, resource organization, project/task prioritization and schedule development.
